Sekisui was proud to participate in this year’s Fill the Bus School Supply Drive in Pasadena, Texas.
Every school year, teachers across the country are forced to personally subsidize school supplies for their classrooms, especially in Title I school districts like Pasadena ISD. Fill the Bus aims to provide school supplies for every child in Pasadena while empowering teachers to decide which materials are best for their own classrooms.
On July 29th, the Strawberry Queens assisted Mayor Jeff Wagner, Superintendent Dee Ann Powell, and Chamber President Cristina Womack in receiving the donations. The Strawberry Queens are participants in the Pasadena Strawberry Festival’s Beauty Pageant. They are ambassadors for the festival and participate in various community volunteer events.
Sekisui’s Pasadena plant and Technology Center participated in the event this year, with Sekisui matching the employees’ donations 1 to 1. In Japan, starting a new school year is an auspicious event, with many companies (including Sekisui) giving a ‘first day of school gift’ to the children of employees. We would like to wish good luck to all the students starting the new school year!
The City of Pasadena has shared a video recap of the event on their Facebook page.
