On June 7th, 2019, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet visited Calvert City, Kentucky to present Sekisui Specialty Chemicals America, LLC, with the Governor’s Safety and Health Award. This award signifies the achievement of 1,896,408 hours worked by Sekisui employees without experiencing a lost-time injury or illness. The Governor’s Safety and Health Award recognizes Kentucky’s employers and employees for outstanding safety and health performance in the workplace.
“Creating a healthy and safe work environment is crucial to the well-being of Kentucky’s workers,” stated Kentucky Labor Cabinet Secretary, David A. Dickerson. “I want to applaud Sekisui on this remarkable achievement and their dedication to promoting safe work habits.”
Sekisui offers a line of high performance polyvinyl alcohol polymers and co-polymers used in paper, adhesive, packaging construction, personal care, and many other specialty formulations. Sekisui Specialty Chemicals is a subsidiary of the Sekisui Chemical group, a multi-billion dollar global company that delivers a wide range of products and services. The company is comprised of core businesses and technologies in housing, social infrastructure, and chemical solutions.

This achievement marks the ninth Governor’s Safety and Health Award received by Sekisui, with their first award in 2010.
State Representative Chris Freeland (R – Benton) also extended praise. “Sekisui represents the commitment to workforce safety that our chemical plants collectively provide here in Marshall County. It’s a great honor to see them recognized for this prestigious award.”
